Continuing its commitment to cultural engagement, AlUla is also being showcased at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, which is hosting the photographic exhibition "I Am a Rawi: Sharing Stories from AlUla" from June 15 to August 31, 2026. Displayed on the institution’s exterior railings, the exhibition is open to the public and free.
Developed by UNESCO and the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), the exhibition highlights the figure of the Rawi, a traditional storyteller of the Arab world who, through oral tradition, transmits the history, knowledge, and traditions linked to the landscapes, inscriptions, and historical remains of AlUla. Part of a broader program dedicated to intercultural dialogue, this initiative reflects AlUla's ambition to strengthen its presence on the international cultural scene by promoting the richness and depth of its historical heritage.

The 2026 Cannes Film Festival was also marked by the announcement of a new international
screenwriting residency supported by Villa Hegra, Film AlUla, Le Groupe Ouest, and LIM (Less is More),
in partnership with AFALULA.
This unprecedented initiative, which will take place between Brittany and AlUla, will support screenwriters and directors from the early development phases of their feature films, while fostering cultural and cinematic exchanges between France and Saudi Arabia.
Structured in two parts, the program will include an international residency bringing together eight filmmakers from Saudi Arabia, France, and other countries, as well as a regional track for eight talents from Saudi Arabia and the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.

At the Saudi Pavilion of the Marché du Film, Film AlUla, the entity responsible for developing the audiovisual sector on behalf of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), presented a complete production ecosystem to international professionals, including exceptional natural scenery, ancient heritage, high-performance technical infrastructure, innovative film studios, dedicated support services, together with high-end hotel facilities. This integrated offering meets the needs of the most ambitious productions and reflects AlUla's ambition to establish itself as a major player in the regional audiovisual industry.
The reception organized on May 19 on the Carlton terrace by the teams from Film AlUla and the French Agency for AlUla Development, in the presence of Jean-Yves Le Drian, President of AFALULA, brought together nearly one hundred film professionals from around the world. More than a networking opportunity, the reception provided a valuable space for dialogue and exchange, fostering new international collaborations and creative synergies.
Featured once again at the Cannes Film Festival, AlUla is increasing its visibility among leading film professionals, reaffirming its position as an exceptional filming destination and regional hub for audiovisual production.
