BOTANICS
What natural resources did people use to feed themselves, build homes, and stay warm? These are the questions that archaeobotany seeks to answer by painstakingly collecting and archaeologically studying minuscule remains of vegetation trapped within the soil. Analyzing plants from the oasis helps shed light on the evolution of ecosystems from the past and plant growth dynamics. This in turn contributes to writing the history of the oasis, by identifying the relationships between people and plants as well as the diversity of the subsequent cultures.
