The two guiding principles of the residency — interdisciplinarity and collaboration — particularly resonated with Laura Sellies (Peuplé de feuilles qui bougent [Populated by Moving Leaves]), who worked together with a composer and a writer to bring the voice of the oasis to life. Voices of women and men, birdsong, echoes of the wind along the palm fronds, the noise of fingers touching the rock... These sounds were mixed and set to music, composing a sonorous memory of the place, a memory to listen to inside an installation dreamed up as a sort of “palace of the remembrance”, a receptacle of stories from the past reinventing themselves today and for the future.
