The idea of the site’s resurrection directly inspired Muhannad Shono (On this Sacred Day), who built a black funeral platform of bricks made from recycled sand: a tribute to the cycle of death and renewal, a cycle to which the oasis, just like any living organism, is subject. There, the palm tree burns, releasing smoke that carries so many stories, memories, and recollections. For the artist, it's about controlling the fire to avoid the blazes that threaten to reduce the world to ashes. The message conveyed by his piece is therefore the necessary acceptance of change.
