The various workshops organized were a great inspiration for the artists. It was during a session devoted to the sky and stars and their usefulness in agriculture that Rashed AlShashai had the idea of Thuraya, playing on the Arabic word’s double meaning: star and chandelier. He could not have better “shone a light” on the oasis than by offering it this gigantic, flamboyant installation made from natural materials of the site, the piece being reflected in a pool of water and offering a surreal, poetic dimension to the night.
