What does the equestrian training program consist of?
Concretely, this involves training the local population in a very wide range of professions, such as horse husbandry (well-being, nutrition, medical care, etc.) or the maintenance of equipment and stables. But this also includes more specific professions, such as groom, stable person, farrier, stable manager, rider, trainer, etc.
How did you put the program together?
The AFASEC Horse Racing School has given us the benefit of its excellence in training. In consultation with the AFALULA equestrian projects division and the RCU, we have developed a tailor-made program, adapting the modules offered by AFASEC to the local context.
How did the first training courses go and what are its future prospects?
The first equestrian assistant training took place in the last quarter of 2023 with 30 candidates originating from the AlUla basin benefiting from it. Lasting 4 and a half months, made up of eight modules, it was delivered by technical trainers assisted by a bilingual Arabic program coordinator.
The program is continuing this year. It is part of our overall project of making training integral to achieving our ambitions, of guaranteeing AIUla residents sustainable jobs and professional development opportunities, and of involving them in the continued positive transformation of AlUla.
